My cello lessons are for adult beginners, advanced cellists, and music students.

With over 18 years of experience teaching cello, I'd be glad to support you on your way to playing. I work not only with beginners, but also with advanced cellists and music students.
On your path to becoming a more fulfilled cellist, I'll guide you professionally and look forward to working on a well-shaped tone, good intonation, and the musical shaping of the pieces. I'm also happy to advise you on choosing the right sheet music and repertoire.
My lessons are tailored to your individual goals and take place in the comfort of your home.
I offer home visits in Mitte, Tiergarten, Moabit, Charlottenburg, Westend, Wilmersdorf, Schöneberg, Friedenau, Steglitz, Dahlem, Grunewald, Zehlendorf, and Wannsee, as well as Kleinmachnow. Other districts upon request.
If you don't yet have your own cello, you can rent one of your choice through my rental service CELLO HOFFMANN. From instruments over 100 years old to modern models, I have a wide selection — and from time to time I'm even open to parting with one of my "treasures" for purchase. A rent-to-own arrangement is also possible upon request.
Lessons can be taught in English or German.
A trial lesson is possible at any time — even spontaneously, as soon as the next day.

Reach out by phone or email — even on short notice. We arrange a first session where you sense whether the chemistry feels right, and we both know what we'd be working on together.

Through my Berlin cello rental service CELLO HOFFMANN we find the right instrument — to rent or buy. I'm happy to help you choose.
♫ Regular Lessons
Weekly or every other week, 60 or 90 minutes. For the start I recommend weekly, but I'm happy to adapt to your individual needs.
We'll discuss the price personally — it depends on frequency, duration, and district.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I too old to start playing the cello?
No. I work with students in their forties, fifties, and sixties — some are playing their first pieces after just a few lessons. Adults learn differently from children: not more slowly, but more consciously.
How quickly will I make progress?
With 15 to 20 minutes of practice a day, you'll be playing simple pieces within a few weeks to months. After a year, your first Bach movements are realistic. Progress is faster if you practice more, slower if practice is irregular.
Do I need my own cello before the first lesson?
No. We can do the trial lesson with my cello. For regular lessons you'll need your own instrument — rented or bought. Through my rental service CELLO HOFFMANN you'll find the right instrument, and I'm happy to advise you on the choice.
Are lessons available online?
No, I only teach in person. It's better for both of us and musically more rewarding.
Do you teach in English?
Yes, absolutely. Many of my students prefer English — that works perfectly for me.
Can I come irregularly?
Yes. Some come weekly, others every two weeks. For faster progress I recommend regular, ideally weekly lessons.
